A Festival Of Christmas was experienced at All Souls Church, Langham Place last Saturday!
Christmas Praise had all the festive treats you’d expect! Spectacular music by the All Souls Orchestra led by Noel Tredinnick, featuring many tracks from our new Christmas CD. A particular highlight was hearing the string section perform “Fantasy on Coventry Carol” – such a moving and captivating piece. We enjoyed a selection from The Nutcracker that evokes all sorts of Christmas memories – and Beverley Trotman, a soloist of many ASO concerts in the past, joined us again this year. Beverley’s gospel voice dazzled us with items such as “Mary, Did you know?” and “Emmanuel/ O Little Town”. She was joined by her daughter Tianna Trotman.
Another of our guest artists was Lucy Grimble, who we first met back in May for Prom Praise, Royal Albert Hall. Lucy sang a heavenly version of “Breath of Heaven” and performed one of her own tracks “Great Redeemer”. Nikki Thornton joined her on many items and sang the solo of Verse 1 of “Once in Royal David’s City”. Our audience enjoyed a premier performance of “Overture: Hark the Herald Angels Sing”, composed by friend of the orchestra Michael Andrews, Music Director at Christ Church Cockfosters. Rico Tice then brought us a special Christmas message. A highlight of the concert may well have been a new piece to us – “Mele Kalikimaka”, meaning Merry Christmas in Hawaiian. Our artists enjoyed getting into the swing of it by wearing lei’s – even Noel ended up wearing one! We hope you enjoy the photo selection below or visit our Facebook page for some videos!
