The apostle Peter says of the church: ‘…But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.’ (1 Peter 2:9)
James Sneddon reminds us in his famous hymn of the wonderful truths about the church. We know and love the Lord because he called us out of darkness and into light. Furthermore, we are welcomed into his chosen family to experience his rich blessing and fatherly care for us. Consequently, we should go forth and strive to be the people he intends; not for fear of reproach or rejection, but to joyfully obey his good commands for us. Noel Tredinnick has set Arthur Sullivan’s popular tune to the vast colour palate of the All Souls Orchestra!
